Can you imagine a time when fathers were not allowed to be present at the birth of their child, or a time when mothers were anaesthetised against their will during labour?
Thanks to Parents Centre we do only have to imagine these conditions, and these are just two of the many achievements the organisation has made since its beginnings in Wellington in 1952.
Today we have 50 Centres nationwide providing childbirth education, parent education, support networks and much more. The volunteer committee of West Auckland Parents Centre do a fantastic job of running all of our services and events. We do however need some help. If you have a passion for family & parenting and the skills outlined below we would love to hear from you.
The Role Are you deadline driven with an eye for detail? Are you good with writing proposals and keen to help West Auckland Parents Centre get money for our deserving cause? We need someone who can work to deadlines, cross all the 't's, dot the 'i's and make sure that we get what we ask for! This is a great role for someone who likes to tackle projects as you really need to hit one application at a time. Each application takes about 4-5 hours of your time and we apply for about 4-6 a year.
What We Offer Volunteering for Parents Centre has many rewards – the excellent personal and professional development programme alone is a huge benefit, should you choose to make use of it. Opportunities to learn new skills and share existing ones are many, as are opportunities to meet new people and nurture new friendships for you and your family, and to give something back to the community. The discounted membership fee is also a bonus!
