Western Bay of Plenty Methodist Parish supported by Volunteering Services (BOP)
Our small but welcoming congregation at Wesley Methodist Church, 13th Ave depends a great deal on volunteers! As well as those who attend our weekly Sunday service of worship at 10.00am, there are some who join us by live-stream, thanks to our AV technical team.
This AV technical team is also responsible for controlling microphones and sometimes PowerPoint, so with all but one of them moving away in the last year, it has left a big gap and we would love to get a few more people on board.
We can offer training to any who have basic computer skills, but equally would welcome anyone with experience who could help us develop our expertise further. Fluency in English will be an asset. Ideally, we would like to be able to draw up a monthly roster so that the time commitment would be an hour and a half per month (9.45 to 11.15am). We are flexible and realise that this may need to be a short-term commitment for some.
As Methodists we belong to church that is multicultural in composition and on a bicultural journey and we welcome people irrespective of age, ethnicity, sexual orientation or faith background. Some members of our congregation are migrants, others are longer term residents, and the cuppa after our service gives us a chance to get to know each other better.
We know there are people in the community with the skills we are looking for and wonder if you might be one of them? If you are interested in checking out this volunteer role, please get in touch with Viv at [email protected] or our Parish Administrator at [email protected] or on 07 578 8493 (Monday to Friday 9.00am to 1.00pm).
