Bocce Coach

Special Olympics Wellington managed by Volunteer Wellington

Logo for Volunteer Wellington

An enthusiastic and fun volunteer is wanted to help with coaching people with intellectual disabilities at Bocce practice on Sundays between 2pm and 3.30pm on Sunday afternoons at Vogelmorn Community. You will be responsible for going through warm-ups with the athletes, skill set exercises and Bocce practice games with athletes.
#Bocce is one of several sports offered by our organisation to people with intellectual disabilities. The sport originates from Italy and is similar to Petanque and Bowls. It is a relatively easy sport to pick up for training and coaching purposes. There are usually two to three tournaments a year that require volunteer coaches - one bocce tournament is a day tournament in the Wellington area(usually on a Saturday or Sunday) and the other two tournaments are held on weekends in Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay. #No financial contribution is required from volunteer coaches - just their time and enthusiasm.
