Kia hiwa ra!, Kia hiwa ra!

The New Zealand dragon boat community boasts a diverse community of paddlers from around Aotearoa and every year we come together to compete for bragging rights to be the best in the country.

Our National Championship event is an exciting few days of jam packed racing at Lake Karapiro and we need dedicated volunteers to help pull it off! This is a 2 day event held on the 5 & 6 April 2024 and our days start at 7.30am sharp. Preference will be given to those who are available on both days.

Volunteer activities can include anything from meet and greets, supporting the admin team with race results, runners, marshalling, delivering lunch packs, sorting medals, helping out with merchandise sales or boat loading. This is such a large-scale event that there are a whole range of different roles available, we have something for everyone!

Ideally you will be physically fit (expect to be on your feet most of the day), have a genuine interest in competitive sport, be reliable and punctual and be willing to take part in a variety of different activities.

What’s in it for you?

  • A snazzy Volunteers T-Shirt and cap
  • A packed lunch
  • A chance to learn about a new sport and meet some new people
  • Front row seats to some exciting sprint racing
  • A reference letter or certificate of thanks (by request)
