Why volunteers?

Māia Health Foundation is the official charity of the Canterbury District Health Board in New Zealand. Since its inception in 2016, Māia has raised more than $11 million which has enabled major improvements to Canterbury’s health services including the upgrading of the helipad at Waipapa Christchurch Hospital, improved child health facilities, and a $2 million upgrade to the Burwood Spinal Unit. Its vision is to enhance health services in Canterbury, taking our health system from good to great.

Maia Foundation’s current project is to create a purpose-built mental health outpatient facility for our children and young people. The current youth and child outpatient facilities at The Princess Margaret Hospital and Hillmorton campus are old, inadequate, cramped, and do not reflect the modern way of care. They do not support young people and their well-being and they do not support or reflect the excellent work of our dedicated mental health workforce.

Māia has committed to raising $6 million to bring this $13.5 million-dollar facility to life. Feast is a fundraising event, our aim is to keep overhead costs to a minimum and so we ask for the support of volunteers to assist us in creating this event.
