Assistant Vehicle Leader
Orange Sky New Zealand

• Values based and progressive not-for-profit organisation. • AMAZING team of volunteers • Endless opportunities for growth and development!
YOUR NEW FAMILY:
Orange Sky was founded by best mates, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett in 2014, with a mission to positively connect communities.
Since building their first mobile laundry van, Nic and Lucas have been awarded 2016 Young Australians of the Year, and have expanded to every capital city in Australia, as well New Zealand too! Through a network of 37 services in 26 locations, over 2000 volunteers operate mobile laundry and shower shifts each week to connect with people doing it tough. Our volunteers are not social workers or experts on homelessness - they are empathetic listeners and great conversationalists.
What started as an idea to improve hygiene standards and restore dignity to people doing it tough has evolved into something much bigger and more powerful.
There are over 41,000 New Zealanders who are experiencing homelessness and we are proud to be part of the greater community of service providers and not-for-profits helping to support people doing it tough. Now we are proudly operating three services in New Zealand with future expansion plans on the horizon.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
YOUR NEW ROLE:
The Assistant Vehicle Leader is fundamental in supporting Vehicle Leader in maintaining one of the most important aspects of Orange Sky Australia - the van. Collectively these roles will be the first point of contact for troubleshooting any issues or faults with the vans, responsible for transporting the vans for repairs and maintenance. It would be advantageous if you have experience in minor vehicle repairs and vehicle maintenance (in-depth mechanical knowledge or skill is NOT required for this role).
It is also the Vehicle Leader & Assistant Vehicle Leader's shared responsibility to complete the weekly van checklist to ensure the van is always safe, clean and well stocked. This role will also stand in when Vehicle Leader might be on leave. This could be a few hours a week to start while being trained, but could be 4-5hrs per week at peak times.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
