Logo for Hato Hone St John

At St John Rangiora Op Shop, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. By selling affordable pre-loved goods, we help fund essential, lifesaving services and community initiatives. Plus, we're making New Zealand more environmentally sustainable by reducing landfill through recycling.

What's involved? Here's what's involved in this exciting volunteer role:

  • Serving customers
  • Cash handling
  • Sorting donated goods
  • Visual merchandising
  • Tidying the store

The commitment required varies, but most of our stores are looking for volunteers who can spare 4 hours a week (one half-day shift), ideally for at least 6 - 12 months.

If you are over 16 years old and eager to gain retail experience, we'll support your development and provide supervision while you volunteer with us!

The recruitment process includes:

  • An interview with the store manager.
  • A criminal record check (if you're over 18 years old).
  • Optional: If your role involves driving (e.g., donation pickups), we'll also check for a current, full NZ Driver License.

Whether you have retail or customer service experience or are eager to learn, we'd love to have you on board! Click the "Apply" button below to submit your expression of interest, and we will send you a link to our simple online application form.

We welcome and encourage diversity in our workforce and adhere to best practice equal employment opportunity principles in all aspects of our recruitment and our ways of working. Haramai ngā tai o te āniwaniwa, he kāhui rangatira tēnei, he kāhui whakamana tāngata whaimahi, e te iti, e te rahi e.
