Forest at the Heart of Wellington - Tree care

Volunteer Wellington
Logo for Volunteer Wellington

The aim of this project is to create a greener and healthier environment within the city and to showcase how humans and nature can thrive in the same place. We have planted 65,000 native trees in the Wellington town belt. This ambitious project involved volunteers from schools, communities and corporations in the maintenance of these tree babies. Help is needed releasing young trees on previously-planted sites from weeds, mulching, seed collecting and pest control (rats and mice). What to wear/bring: Sturdy boots, long sleeves and long trousers are essential. Ensure you pack warm clothes such as a beanie, jumper and a rain jacket to protect you against wind and rain. Bring a full water bottle and food! What we provide: Gloves, tools and high-vis. Free transport available from Wellington City - get in touch to book a seat as spaces are limited! REGISTRATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL
