  • Safeguarding - place the well-being of young people as your paramount concern acting in the best interests of children and young people at all times.
  • Youth Empowerment - Follow the “Youth-Leading, Adult Supporting” principle by empowering young people to achieve their goals for their Scout experience.
  • Youth Programme - use the Scouts Aotearoa programme framework to support young people to develop and lead their own challenging, fun, inclusive, active and adventurous Programme. Actively seek information and skills relevant to the role, to improve competency as a Kaiārahi.
  • Risk Management - take responsibility for identifying and reporting risks within the three main risk areas of programme risk, outdoor adventure risk (away from the hall), and premises risk (Scout hall and its environment).
  • Youth Worker Skills - use positive youth development practices to support young people to flourish and grow into people who can make a positive difference in their communities
