Friday Food Rescue Admin Team Member for Chiller Truck -(Grenada North)

Kiwi Community Assistance Charitable Trust (KCA) managed by Volunteer Wellington

Logo for Volunteer Wellington

Volunteers need their own transport to get to and from KCAs Grenada North warehouse. Once you have arrived at our warehouse, our storeman or general manager will go through with you the manifest for KCA branded high vis, your own bottle of hand sanitiser, and food safety gloves as you will be in the confined space of a truck cab getting to the different supermarkets. 1 on 1 training is provided and there is also a manual that you can refer to. Working closely with the volunteer driver you will be required to sort and box donated food from local supermarkets ensuring that you check the 'use by'and the 'best before' dates before placing it into banana boxes. All donated food is also weighed for reporting purposes. You must be able to use a 'smartphone' to take photos and upload the photos on our Facebook page with narrations whilst in the chiller truck between supermarkets. Good communication skills are required, as this team member liaises with the various partner agencies calling them from our chiller truck to arrange a time to collect the stock from our refrigeration equipment. These partner agencies come from all over the Greater Wellington region, including Kapiti, Upper Hutt, and Wellington City. This role involves heavy lifting (15-20kgs) between 2 people, so you must be reasonably fit. KCA provides a barrel trolley to wheel the stock to the chiller truck.
