Key Native Ecosystems - Dune Restoration

Volunteer Wellington
Logo for Volunteer Wellington

Join us for a day of coastal conservation as we remove weed species along Wellingtons south coast, such as karo and osteospermum, before they produce seeds and spread. Dunelands close to settlements are vulnerable to colonisation by invasive weeds which de-stabilise the sand, and displaces native species such as pangao and spinifex/kawhangatara. What to wear/bring: Sturdy boots are essential, long sleeves, and long trousers. Ensure you pack warm clothes such as a rain jacket to protect you against wind. Bring a full water bottle and snacks! REGISTRATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL, AS PLACES ARE LIMITED
