Do you enjoy being outdoors and would like to help us preserve our native species?
The Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust first formed in 2002 to preserve our taonga (treasure) of native species for generations to come and reverse the decline of population of North Island Brown Kiwi in the Otanewainuku Forest.
The main duties of a Workday helper are to be present at work days, usually every 2nd Sunday of the month between 9am - 1pm, helping with clearing and maintaining paths. You will be inducted at the day, receive the map and teamed up with an experienced person who will go with you and explain how it all works. After the walk in the forest you can socialise and enjoy hot drink and sausage sizzle at the shelter with other volunteers.
Workdays can be either in the forest, at a box-making day, or preparing bait. You choose when you attend and how often but the more times you can would be greatly appreciated.
