Would you like to be a positive role-model for a young person in need of support? Become a mentor for a 9-13 year old with this Wellington-based youth development programme. Challenge for Change aims to improve a young persons self esteem, help them to develop leadership skills, improve their social skills, develop their confidence and use their leisure time constructively. This is achieved through regular contact with a mentor who is a positive role-model and the use of goal setting. The role requires two to three hours weekly for a fun activity and one to two hours once a week for therapeutic journaling (this is flexible). Volunteers are required to make at least a 10 month long commitment and attend comprehensive training prior to being matched with their mentee. As a mentor you will be reimbursed for travel and also given some funds to do activities with your mentee. We are inviting interested people to apply for the 2022 group of mentors.
