We are seeking new volunteers to help make our LGBTQIA+ Youth Groups happen. The group, which has been running in the greater Wellington region for fifteen years, is a social group for LGBTQIA+ identifying rangatahi and their allies who are at high school, between the ages of 13-18. We get together to play games, do arts and crafts, engage in healthy discussions, host a range of external speakers and provide a safe environment with positive role models for young people to explore their identity and make new friends in a space free from judgement. If you are looking for a really fantastic opportunity to work with young people and improve your facilitation skills, or looking to explore a career in education, policy or youth work, this is your chance to take on a volunteer role that gives full training, induction and mentoring with our coordinator. There is some creativity required, as our facilitators plan the sessions with support from Poneke Coordinator. You will need to be able to build rapport with young people attending the group and create a fun, safe, and social space for queer and questioning youth.
