Work and live at New Zealand’s largest Riding for the Disabled, our amazing facilities are located on the outskirts of Welcome Bay on the waters edge with a view of the Mount.
We ride 175 therapy riders a week, over 5 different programmes providing goal-based riding activities that increase the ability, independence, and confidence of people with physical, intellectual, and social challenges.
We are seeking students/volunteers to work and live at our facility helping with our equestrian therapy sessions. Placements of 2 – 12 months will be considered, approximately 20 hours per week.
Accommodation will be provided on site in a 3 bedroom house, for up to three students at a time. Transport and food not provided.
The purpose of this role is to assist our coaches in every aspect of therapy riding, horse care and yard work plus gain experience in the Therapy Riding and Horse Industries.
To help coaches co-ordinate assigned therapy riding sessions that meet the objectives set for each participant
Assist in keeping attendance records and riders progress cards up to date
To adhere to the requirements outlined in the NZRDA Training Guide
Assist with yard work, paddock work and horse care
Assist with horses, riding equipment and riding environment as required
