Prisoners Aid & Rehabilitation Society (PARS) Hawke’s Bay works to reduce re-offending by walking alongside ex-prisoners and their whanau as the reintegrate into the community.

PARS provides social and practical support for people who have experienced the justice system, to reduce their isolation and improve access to appropriate services in the community.

We are currently looking for volunteers who are empathetic and good listeners who can work for 2-4 hours/per week across Hawke’s Bay.

We would love to hear from you if you have some, or all, of the following attributes:

  • Empathetic, open-minded and accepting
  • A good listener
  • Calm under pressure
  • Able to adhere to boundaries
  • Flexibility
  • Knowledge of Hawke’s Bay community services and facilities
  • Have previously worked in social services, or have experienced the criminal justice system, either personally or alongside whanau
  • Able to complete basic documentation of your work
  • Car drivers licence is required.
  • Vetting is required but previous convictions can be discussed.
