NZRT Responders train to gain skills and qualifications in First Aid, General Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue, Flood Response, Storm Response, Rope Rescue, Health and Safety, Stress Management, Radio Communications, Coordinated Incident Management.

Responders should be prepared to deploy to a wide range of regional and national emergency events to preform technical rescue or emergency support in accordance to qualification level.

Volunteers will have reasonable fitness, observant and alert, have good communication skills and be proactive and responsible.
