Crisis Line Operators
Hutt Valley Womens Refuge managed by Volunteer Wellington
Are you resilient and compassionate? Are you confident enough to make tough calls? Are you passionate about the safety of women and children? This role involves taking after-hours calls on a crisis line for women in immediate danger. The Crisis Line exists so that women who are in crisis can escape to a safe space, quickly. It does not operate from a call centre, rather the number is patched through to your mobile to take it wherever you are. It is staffed by our Advocates during business hours and by our highly valued volunteers after hours and over the weekend. Calls will come from women who need help and are in difficult situations but are not urgent well as those in crisis who are in need of immediate refuge. We will provide you with the necessary training to ensure you are able to tell the difference.
