About this opportunity
Thursday mornings 8.15am to 11.45am approx (START AND FINISH IN GRENADA NORTH, WELLINGTON) - weekly commitment
Volunteers will need their own transport to get to and from KCA's Grenada North Depot. You must be able to use and Iphone to take photos and upload them on to our Facebook page - training will be provided.
Please note reliability and responsibility are key attributes that we require of our volunteers. All volunteers need to be able to lift 20kg boxes of food (between 2 people) and commit to volunteering with KCA for three months. To volunteer with KCA you must be 16 years old or more.
Food rescue volunteers work with the driver on weekday mornings, collecting and sorting food donated by retailers and food manufacturing companies. The team meets with partner agencies at a variety of locations from Newlands to Porirua to dispatch the goods collected. Any unallocated stock is transferred back to KCA's HQ in Grenada North and stored for dispatch later.
This role can involve a lot of heavy lifting (15-20kgs) between 2 people, so you must be reasonably fit.
Part time for a minimum of 3 months on a once-a-week basis (more often if you wish, and spaces allow).
