Biodiversity Survey in the Whau

Environment & Conservation Long Term Auckland Accessible

About this opportunity

The Whau River Catchment is full of biodiversity, but the distribution, abundance and species composition is poorly known.

We have split the Whau Area into 14 neighborhood units to get a good distribution of what is in the Whau. You can do the survey in any of these areas.

All you need to do is download iNaturalist and upload photos taken in the Whau area. They will automatically slot into one of the 14 areas.

This can be done on a walk in the park, looking out your backyard, while swimming in the river - you name it and you can probably conduct a survey!

Surveys can take from 2 minutes to 2 hours - it's up to you how far you take it.
