Our Vision: Older People thriving in an inclusive society for all ages. Our Mission: Providing services, information, education, advocacy and support, working together for the rights and wellbeing of older people our website: We are committed to serving the needs of older people, Koroua and Kuia of the Counties Manukau region. We are one of a nationwide network of 34 members, branches and associates, affiliated to Age Concern New Zealand (ACNZ). We are a separate entity and an incorporated, not-for-profit, non-government organisation established in 1994 and we are registered on the charities commission CC28094. We are fortunate to be Auckland Council, community tenants at Cambria Park Homestead in Papatoetoe. Age Concern Counties Manukau Inc provide services, information, advice, support, education and advocacy to older people their whanau and carers in response to local needs in the region of Counties Manukau from as far south as Mercer, north to Mangere, east to Kaiaua and west to the Awhitu Peninsula. Together with Age Concern North Shore, Auckland and Rodney we meet as an Age Concern Auckland Regional Group to discuss Auckland regional issues. We also are part of the Northern Regional Health Promotion Advisory Group, who meet regionally with our governance and management staff from Counties Manukau northward and we attend the annual forums hosted by Age Concern New Zealand in Wellington. Ways you can be involved as a volunteer: Volunteering to be a visitor with our Accredited Visiting Service - Accredited visitors are volunteers who are trained and then matched with an elderly client who is feeling socially isolated and requires some outside company. Our volunteers visit their client once a week, for 1 hour, with the goal of fostering a mutually enjoyed friendship. Contact: [email protected] 2. Volunteer to take part in our Annual events - IDOP Events - We hold a yearly event that we look for volunteers to help us out as a once off for the day. Elder Abuse Awareness Week - We look for people each year to help us during Elder Abuse Awareness week, with help bucket collecting donations, or placing buckets in local business / organisations. Contact: [email protected] 3. Volunteer for the Vintage Store Our charity store in Papatoetoe is on the lookout for reliable shop assistants both at the front and the back of the shop. They are also always seeking good-quality second-hand clothes and furniture. All profits help Age Concern Counties Manukau run its various Elder support services. Contact: [email protected] 4. Volunteer to help with Health Promotion Courses - Melanie is always looking for volunteers to help with the set-up and pack-away of her courses, as well as help with Morning tea and lunches. Volunteer to assist with Administrative work in our office Our office, which is located at 250 Puhinui road is always looking for admin volunteers for tasks such as filing, letter-stuffing and assisting our receptionist with daily admin tasks.
