West Auckland Parents Centre (WAPC) is a volunteer organisation run by parents for parents. We've been in West Auckland for 33 years and are affiliated with Parents Centres New Zealand. We're one of over 50 Parents Centres in New Zealand. We plan and run programmes to meet the needs of our local community. Our mission statement is: “positive birth experiences and informed parenting in a community where parents are supported and highly valued in their role” To put this into action, our cornerstones services are: - Childbirth education (antenatal courses) - Parenting education (postnatal and professional development courses) - Parent Support (e.g. coffee groups and dial-a-mum) - Advocacy and lobbying (e.g. supporting a remit surrounding car seats, Big Latch On promoting breastfeeding) West Auckland Parents Centre covers the wider West Auckland area from Pt Chevalier, Avondale, Blockhouse Bay up to Helensville.
