BestStart Styx Mill

BestStart Styx Mill provides quality education and care in a specially designed centre in Northwood. Our teachers do more than just care for tamariki, we focus on supporting their development and learning. We work with families to support their hopes and dreams, to ensure their child's individual routines are supported, helping create a smooth transition into centre life. Our Vision - To Be The Best We Can Be We have three fantastic classrooms catering for children of different age groups: Kākano room: We cater for children from 3 months to 2 years, we offer a inviting indoor area with a large outside area where tamariki are supported and nurtured by a team of teachers. In our Kākano room your infant or toddler will be provided with a range of resources and support to develop independence, build on their physical skills, learn how to positively interact with others and learn both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. All tamariki work to strengthen their independence for self-help skills. Routines are the heart of the room for the tamariki. Tipu Room: We cater for children age 2 years to 3.5 years, we continue to strengthen the tamariki independence as well as support their individual interests and educational needs. We pride ourselves on flexibility and meeting each child's needs. Our programme also offers a range of regular experiences in music, art, group times, story times and much more. Our teachers do more than just care for your child, they focus on how to support their development and learning. Pihinga Room: We cater for children aged 3.5 to 6 year olds, within this room we continue to celebrate your child on their learning journey. The tamariki help make up our programme on a daily basis as we look at what they are interested in learning about and support them on their adventure to learn. We work with families and children to make sure the process to school is smooth for all involved, this is supported by our Before School Ready initiative. What makes us different?
