Robert Bartley Foundation

The Robert Bartley Foundation was established in February 2021, in memory of the now late founder Robert Bartley QSM. You could say that Rob was a bit of a legend in these parts, and was known as a hardworking and entrepreneurial businessman who strongly supported his local community. His generosity with his time and through providing financial support has benefitted many in Whanganui. In recognition of his contribution, Rob was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal (QSM) in 2009. The idea of the Health Bus came about when Rob was undergoing medical treatment. He had just read in the local paper about the Council retiring its library bus and that’s when he had the idea for a mobile health clinic. Through his own health treatments and the travel involved for appointments, he saw an opportunity to make it easier for those in need to have better access to health services. From here, the Robert Bartley Foundation was established.. It has been quite a journey since the Foundation was launched, and sadly in March 2021 our founder, Robert Bartley, passed away after a long battle with cancer. The Robert Bartley Foundation will ensure Rob’s legacy of giving back to his local community continues.
