WAIROA COMMUNITY NGAHERE NURSEY INC MISSION “Repair, Restore and Regenerate our river for future generations” We are The Community Ngahere Nursery Inc We propagate native seeds and seedlings for local Riparian and restoration projects. We provide a working and learning environment for everyone in a natural therapeutic setting. We rely on volunteer support for the day to day running of the nursery We have served our local community from individuals, groups, Organisations Marae, Hapu, Iwi since 2018 Vision To be the Kaitiaki for our local Waterways and environment Creating a healthier environmental future for generations to come Our Reason High sedimentation and erosion has impacted on the state of our river. Our fish and aquatic species are declining. UV rays cant penetrate the water resulting in high e coli readings. Wairoa Community Ngahere Nursery Inc is a small and vital step towards helping to reverse the damage done to our Wairoa River and Tributaries. A question was asked. What can we do to help our Awa heal? THE ANSWER CAME BACK PLANT NATIVES MAURIORA- IF THE AWA IS SICK THEN SO IS THE COMMUNITY FOCUS ON WELLBEING OF OUR ENVIRONMENT We are a Community group who propagate eco sourced native plants and seeds. We need motivated volunteers to help out in our nursery, potting up plants, sourcing seeds, you may have skills in promoting our nursery, updating our website, knowledge in horticulture, or just want to volunteer some time pottering around. We are a friendly bunch of people, who love our environment, no we are not all greenies.... Come along and check us out. We are open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10.30 am to 3pm If more people volunteer we could open more days. If you are looking for something to do, lonely, just retired, relocated, unemployed.
