RefillNZ

@RefillNZ, www.refillnz.org.nz • Plastic bottles are among the top five most common items found in beach clean-ups around the world. • Kiwis are contributing to this problem, throwing away 828 million single-use plastic bottles per year, the equivalent of 165 Olympic swimming pools. RefillNZ has a solution to prevent plastic pollution at the source by making it easier to reuse and refill water while on the go, rather than buying bottled water. We also want to change the way people think about tap water so it becomes the drink of choice in Aotearoa. Tap water is free and refreshing, it’s also plastic free! As it’s hard to find public fountains when you are out and about (and easier to buy bottled drinks!) – RefillNZ collaborates with cafes, bars, other business and council venues, who are happy for passer bys to pop in and refill for free. It’s a behavior change campaign • To have carrying a reusable water bottle 'the new normal’. • Positioning Tap water as the ‘healthy hydration’ drink of choice – its free, refreshing, sugar and plastic free! We are collaborating with Waste Minimization people in councils, tourism, hospitality industry as well as people in the health sector who want to make Tap Water the drink of choice. We started in Nov 2018 and now have over 2,500 sites on our web map, with lots more to come.
