About Department of Conservation - Operation Tidy Fox

With the support of the Department of Conservation, Operation Tidy Fox is using volunteer manpower to aid clean-up efforts in the Fox Riverbed.

The South Westland floods in March 2019 washed out an estimated 5,500 tonnes of waste from the Fox Glacier landfill. Now, millions of pieces of plastic are tangled in debris along the 25 km of the Fox River, floating in the ocean, and washing up along 150 km of coastline.
