About Big Brothers Big Sisters Auckland

Big Brothers Big Sisters Auckland help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. Our mentors have a positive impact for the young people, their families and the community. Our mentoring programme provides a safe and supportive space to foster a sense of belonging and self-worth, and the opportunity for our young people to unlock their potential; creating more fulfilled and connected communities.

We are seeking volunteers who can commit for an initial one year of weekly visits with a young person doing fun things in the community like kicking a ball, walking, baking, going to the beach, library or park or just hanging out talking.

With a proven track record of over 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters is the world’s premier mentoring programme. In 13 locations around New Zealand, Big Brothers Big Sisters helps more than 900 young people each year to reach their potential through professionally supported, mentoring relationships.

Partnering with whānau, schools, businesses and others in the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters carefully pairs children and young people with screened, trained volunteer mentors and monitors and supports the matches throughout their course.

And, the research shows that our mentoring works – young people with a Big Brother or Big Sister show real differences in their personal and academic lives.

Volunteers are highly valued in our organisation - full training and support provided throughout the length of involvement.

We invite you to make a difference in the life of a child - it'll start something incredible!
