Eleven years ago I was looking for an opportunity to make a difference within the community and I found this when I became a volunteer for St John as a Friend of the Emergency Department at North Shore Hospital. I enjoy meeting people and this role enables me to provide patients, family and friends with help, comfort and support during their hospital stay. Whilst continuing with this work, I have also been an Operations volunteer (events & ambulance) for five years and I’m currently the volunteer team leader in the Stroke and Renal ward. It is very rewarding to be a member of such a respected organisation, whose training and support has enabled me to make a difference to people when it really matters. I am proud to be a volunteer for St John and is has become an important part of my life.
