I began volunteering immediately after I retired, because I felt that I wanted a new challenge. I chose volunteering at Auckland Museum because it gave me a chance to get involved in an exciting environment where I could learn more myself, and then pass this on to others. The Museum offered full training and continues to support us to do a good job of making us feel like an important part of the whole Museum. I enjoy meeting new people from all over the world and having the chance to share my passion for New Zealand history and for the Museum with them. Being part of such a supportive community of volunteers who also share my enthusiasm for the role of Volunteer Guide has become an enjoyable and important part of my life.
